Contoocook & Hopkinton, NH - December 1st – 3rd, 2017
In it’s 14th year, the villages of Contoocook and Hopkinton will host Starry Starry Weekend, December 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.. With a tag line of “one weekend, two villages, and three days of unique holiday shopping and events,” Starry Starry Weekend tries to enchant visitors of all ages. This is the Hopkinton area business’s annual holiday weekend with over 20 destinations to choose from. Each day is filled with festive shopping, dining and exciting events.
The villages will be sporting several holiday themed pop-up shops. The Contoocook Train Depot and St. Andrews Church will both have goods from talented local artisans. On Saturday Contoocook United Methodist Church will feature a cookie walk and a pantry table with homemade food & gift items. Local artisans and crafters will be selling many handcrafted articles at several locations throughout the villages.
Friday, Dec 1st events kick off with the Hopkinton Historical Society’s Annual Art Show ‘s “Last Chance Night.” From 5pm – 7pm the public is given a last chance to view and purchase original works from more than 40 of the region’s finest artists.
On Saturday, Dec 3rd, the Hopkinton Recreation Department is hosting a Gingerbread House Workshop where families can spend some quality time decorating a tasty gingerbread house. A special reading of the book Polar Express will take place on Saturday evening from 5-7pm on the historic Pullman Train Car. Hot chocolate will be served but everyone should dress warm as the train is outside on the tracks.
The local shops will be rolling out the red carpet for visitors with special treats or events of their own to celebrate festive weekend. Marklin Candle in conjunction with their gift gallery, Der Markt will have candle factory tours in which you can learn about their special relationship with the bees and their candle making processes. Nationally recognized Gould Hill Farm will be open all weekend with fresh apple cider, warm baked goods, NH Christmas trees, wreaths and the most unbelievable views of the White Mountain range. This year the orchard will be featuring it’s Hard Cider Tasting Room.
Indigo Blues & Co will be featuring local and international jewelry lines with a different line featured each day. On Friday they will be featuring Uno de 50 from Milan, Spain. Saturday will feature Erica Walker will be in the store displaying her jewelry items that are skillfully crafted in her home silver works shop in Sutton, NH.. Concord’s Molly Brandt will be at Indigo Blues & Co featuring her Beadorable Jewelry Designs. .
